The rivalry between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics is arguably the greatest that fans have ever seen in the history of the NBA. Both franchises are tied for most NBA titles in the league’s rich history. They are currently tied with having won 17 NBA titles each.
Although the best days of the rivalry were back during the 1980s, when Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were in their respective primes, to this date, there’s still some bad blood between the two franchises.
So much so that LeBron James has openly admitted to hating the Boston Celtics. He explained the reason behind that hate is because fans in Boston are pretty racist.
LeBron James Once Again Says That He Hates The Boston Celtics
During the NBA media day, James was one of the biggest attractions, as usual. He talked about several things, such as his true feelings about being on the verge of surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the all-time NBA top scorer.
While these answers were loved by all, James’ one particular comment was loved the most by the Los Angeles Lakers fanbase.
Teammates LeBron hated playing against but loved as a teammates:

“I still hate Boston. Don’t get twisted. We all still hate Boston.”
James was originally given an answer about the former teammates that he playing against but loved them as his teammates. He chose the name of Kendrick Perkins, with whom he was teammates during his second stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
At the end of the day, fans of the Lakers expect their players to hate their bitter rivals, and hearing that James has undying hate for the Celtics made fans feel good. After all, he is the current leader of the Purple and Gold. The fanbase expects him to be committed as a member of the Lakers, and hating the Celtics is arguably a part of showing his loyalty.
