The New Orleans Pelicans entered a rebuilding phase after trading Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2019. Fortunately, the Pelicans ended up getting the first overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and used it to draft Zion Williamson.

Looking at Zion’s amazing highlights during his college days, most expected him to quickly get adjusted to the league and start dominating his opponents. But due to being sidelined as a result of getting injured, fans are yet to see the true potential of Zion.

Well, after missing the entire last season, Zion seems ready for the 2022-23 NBA season. The 22-year-old recently left fans in awe of his great shape during the NBA media day.

While Williamson may look fitter than ever, if he can’t help the Pelicans reach the playoffs and ultimately lead them to a decent run, all the hype will be useless.

Zion Williamson Wants To Win The NBA Championship

When playing in the NBA, the end goal of every player is to ultimately win the NBA Championship. Usually, building a championship roster takes time, and the Pelicans have had that.

They have a decent enough roster and most believe Williamson being healthy was the only thing holding them back from achieving great things in the league. Keeping that in mind, the 22-year-old has shared that his goal for this season is to win the title.

“I’d be lying to you if I said anything less than a championship. If your mind isn’t set on winning, then where is it at? Now, it’s going to be a journey. It’s not going to be easy in no way. We have to take it game by game. Like I said, when you have rough patches, it’s those periods that are really going to make us into a championship team.”

Winning rings is the most important thing for any NBA player to establish his legacy in the league. All the other things are just a good side product.

As for Williamson’s claims, it’s great that he is aiming for the biggest prize available, but it’s easier said than done. Considering the competition in the Western Conference is great, he and the Pelicans will need to give their best throughout the year.
