The Dallas Mavericks will have their franchise stars both have really eventful summers outside of basketball. Kyrie Irving just signed a new contract with Chinese brand ANTA to not only be a signature athlete but also the Chief Creative Officer of the company.

Luka Doncic got engaged to longtime girlfriend Anamaria Goltes last week, with fans rejoicing at the pair finally tying the knot. Mark Cuban is happy for his franchise star, wishing he could give Doncic the NBA Championship as a wedding gift.

“I’ve talked to my wife about that. I don’t know yet. A championship.”

Doncic has done his part in making the Mavericks a contender in the NBA, averaging 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8.0 assists last season. Unfortunately, Cuban and his front office didn’t put a decent team around Doncic and the team plummeted to the 11th seed despite Luka carrying them to the fourth seed prior to mid-season trades and injuries ruined them.

A Long Way From The Title

The Mavericks have had a strong offseason where they’ve made the moves to re-align the franchise in the right direction. They re-signed Kyrie after a questionable trade for him, but the contract seems to be good value, given Kyrie took a big discount over the max contract he initially wanted. The Mavs have added the right young talent in Grant Williams and rookies, Omax Prosper and Dereck Lively III.

The team hasn’t reinforced its top-end talent just yet and is still exploring trades. Clint Capela is a name that has been widely linked with the team, so a possible move to get a bonafide starting center may be the launching point for Dallas.  Hopefully, they can restructure this roster into a winning one before Doncic realizes he may need to go elsewhere for success.
