The Memphis Grizzlies are in a bit of a struggle and are on a four-game losing streak. Fans, though, attributed that slide to Shannon Sharpe and the on-court altercation he had with the Grizzlies players when they played the Los Angeles Lakers last week.

Sharpe and the likes of Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks got into an altercation, and given how they love to trash-talk, things escalated quickly between the analyst and the players prompting security to be involved.

There were also words exchanged between Morant’s father and Sharpe. Speaking with Dave McMenamin, he explained the situation saying that “it started with Dillon Brooks” while also adding that the Grizzlies players and Tee Morant “didn’t want this smoke.”

They didn’t want this smoke, Dave. They do all that talking and jockeying and I ain’t about that jockeying. It started with Dillon Brooks. I said he was too small to guard LeBron. he said “F***” me. I said, “F***” you back. He started to come at me and I said, “You don’t want these problems.” And then Ja came out of nowhere talking. He definitely didn’t want these problems. Then the dad came and he obviously didn’t want no problems. But I wanted anything they had. Don’t let these fools fool you now.

The incident has since blown over, with Sharpe even putting out an apology. But for some fans, the event was believed to have upset the Grizzlies’ rhythm.

NBA Fans Believe Shannon Sharpe’s Altercation With The Grizzlies Triggered The Slump

The Grizzlies have been one of the more efficient units this season, with a 31-17 record in the West and placed second in the standings. However, their recent losses, the latest coming against the Golden State Warriors, are a bit of a worry.

Fans took to social media, calling it the “Shannon Sharpe effect,” and what followed was some hilarious comments and trolling of the team.

The Grizzlies aren’t really in dire straits, considering their record, but they will be keen to arrest the slide when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves next, followed by a clash against the Indiana Pacers.
