LeBron James’ tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers has been full of ups and downs. He joined the iconic NBA franchise in 2018 and reignited the hopes of the Lakers Nation. Many believed that the team’s dark days were over as James would lead them to glory.

Since his arrival, LeBron James may have helped the team win one NBA title, but the Lakers have also missed the playoffs twice and were eliminated in the first round once. As for the 2022-23 NBA season, fans and LeBron expected the organization to make some changes and improve the roster.

Unfortunately, those changes are yet to be seen, and the Lakers are 14-21 right now, as they are in the 13th spot in the Western Conference. This has led to LeBron’s recent viral interview about still wanting to win, which could also be a final warning to the Purple and Gold to make some changes right now.

Should LeBron James Demand A Trade Next Season?

James cannot be traded this season. The earliest he can put in his trade request is next offseason. But one would expect the Lakers to make a couple of trades to help him. On the contrary, recent rumors suggest the team is planning on riding out the season with the current roster.

Either way, NBA analyst Chris “Mad Dog” Russo thinks James shouldn’t request a trade next offseason. Instead, he believed James should win another title with the Lakers and then think of moving on from the team.

(Starts at 1:45)

“One thing about LeBron, you can’t go join a heavyweight team now. You left the Cavs, you left the Heat, you left the Cavs, you go to the Lakers. You’ve made your bed with the Lakers. If you win one, it’s gotta be in L.A., I don’t think people are going to get that wrapped up if he goes joins Curry somewhere and they go win a championship together.”

According to recent rumors, if James requests a trade, there are six ideal destinations for him. But if the King decides to stay with the Lakers, it will certainly be an interesting outcome because, as of now, everything points toward his exit from the team.
