Michael Jordan and LeBron James will be compared to each other till the end of time as the two men vie for the title of the greatest of all time.
Debates on just who is greater between them are hotly contested and one of the biggest knocks on LeBron in them is that he isn’t considered as tough as Jordan. A fan has now shared a video comparing how differently they reacted to situations not going in their favor.
LeBron’s meltdown at the end of regulation against the Boston Celtics this season was an unforgettable one. He clearly got fouled as he was attempting the game-winning layup and was furious that the officials missed that call. Did he perhaps go a bit overboard? Probably, but it is understandable that he was furious at that moment.
Jordan, meanwhile, played in an era where the kind of physicality you see there was quite normal. It was a lot worse for him in the 1980s when the Detroit Pistons implemented the “Jordan Rules,” and he just brushed aside what happened here against the Indiana Pacers. LeBron has never really had to face this kind of treatment as the players are a lot friendlier these days, which just adds to the notion that he isn’t as tough as Jordan.
MJ also didn’t really go at the officials for missing those fouls in the video the fan shared, which is to be respected, but it won’t be right to say that Jordan never complained because he sure did at times.

The difference in eras was brought up by former NBA player Al Harrington, who used it as his argument for why Jordan is greater than LeBron. He claimed Jordan came up in an era where everyone hated each other, while LeBron has dominated an era of “His little Bros.”
There’d be plenty who would agree with Harrington and there is also the belief among many that if Jordan played in this same era as LeBron, he would put up astronomical numbers. It is certainly a lot easier to score now in the NBA than in the 1990s when Jordan was at his absolute peak.
The rules make it almost impossible to guard the best players in the league now and if Jordan was basically putting up 30 points a night back then, one can only imagine what he’d do in this era. At the end of the day, though, we’ll never know for sure how exactly things would have panned out.
