The Detroit Pistons just lost their 27th consecutive game after a game against the Brooklyn Nets. They fought as hard as they have in any game all season long but just couldn’t keep the Nets at bay tonight, losing by just six points. This loss gives Detroit the distinct displeasure of being the team with the longest single-season losing streak in history.

Nobody saw this happening before the season and are shocked that the Pistons have earned one of the worst records in NBA history.

Fans joked about how the last Pistons win predates the James Harden trade to the Clippers.

Fans are praying that their team isn’t the one to give Detroit their first win after such a legendary losing streak.

Some fans even said they should be out of the league for being in contention for a ‘eliminated from playoff contention’ graphic before mid-season.

Bill Simmons was watching the game and expressed his frustration at the poor coaching decisions.

Some fans are already calling for Williams to be fired two months into the season.

Many fans believe Monty no longer cares about winning games and that is showing in his body language on the court.

Fans want to see Cade Cunningham freed from the franchise after he did everything in his power to try and lead them to a win tonight.

Cade Cunningham’s 41 points and nine rebounds went to complete waste as the Pistons’ late-game execution failed them against the veteran bunch the Nets were running. Bojan Bogdanovic (23 points) and Alec Burks (15 points) had great moments to keep Detroit competitive, while Jalen Duren is proving his utility as a starting center in the NBA with 12 points and 15 rebounds.

The Nets got through the Pistons with a team-oriented performance led by Cam Johnson scoring 24 points. Mikal Bridges had 21 points while Cam Thomas had 17 points. Dorian Finney-Smith was one of the three players to score 11 points, but DFS clinched the game for Brooklyn with a late three that condemned Detroit to this loss.

The previous longest single-season losing streak belonged to the 2010-11 Cavaliers and the 2013-14 76ers at 26 consecutive losses.

Is There A Solution For The Pistons?

The Detroit Pistons genuinely look rudderless right now, with serious doubts over their ability to win even a single game right now. They fumbled an opportunity against a Utah Jazz squad that had most of its starters out and they’ve fumbled another game tonight, as Cade looked ready to drag this team to just their third win of the season. Odd coaching decisions from Monty made sure that wouldn’t happen.

The solution for Detroit is to tear everything down. They need to fire Monty Williams immediately, even if it costs them a fortune because of the gigantic contract they handed him in the summer. We can legitimately call Williams a talentless coach right now because he has been shambolic in Detroit. It’s insulting the fans of the franchise, so Monty needs to be booted out of there ASAP. Maybe the ownership needs to sell the franchise for any real progress to come.

The young players look promising but it doesn’t look like they’re able to start winning, even with veterans like Burks and Bogdanovic on the roster. At this point, they should just trade everyone except Cunningham and rebuild around him. But the No. 1 overall pick from 2021 likely is on his last legs with the franchise and should look to find any way he can find himself in a new situation.

There is no clear situation, but getting rid of Monty Williams is a good start.
