Jalen Green is one of the brightest young talents in the league and many are expecting him to have a breakout third season next year under Ime Udoka on the Rockets.

Green has a massive Instagram following and often goes live during the day. On his latest live, he was listening to NBA YoungBoy in a car, which prompted fans to tell Green to not bring out a gun, mocking Ja Morant’s recent controversies

“Everybody is commenting, ‘Don’t pull no pistol out’. They wilding. I don’t got no gun.”

Morant announced yesterday that he will be taking a break from social media, but did so in a very odd and cryptic fashion that led to a welfare check being performed on Morant. Thankfully, officials went to Morant’s home and informed everyone that his latest social media posts were indicating that he will be taking time off from Instagram and nothing else.

Ja Morant Hurting His Career

We are seeing a concentrated shift towards educating young athletes more and more about the fame, money, and influence that they earn by virtue of being NBA players. The tragic tales of athletes making mistakes that ruined their careers are well known and nobody wants Morant to become one of the stories. He could be a future MVP but he needs to remember the power and influence he carries.

Setting a bad example will ruin his career, as he has already made irreparable damage to his brand. Nike is seemingly distancing itself from Morant, pulling his signature shoe drop from their app after the controversy. He also lost out on $39 million by not making an All-NBA team, a position he had locked up before his suspension in March.

His punishment for the latest infraction hasn’t been revealed yet, but will likely be more serious than the eight games he was asked to miss in March. He’s already had two strikes with this issue, and we all know what happens to people when they pick up a third strike. Fans of the NBA will be hoping that Morant keeps himself out of trouble going forward.
