Ja Morant was one of the surprise snubs when the league announced the All-NBA teams earlier this week, and his absence on the list saw him miss out on $39 million.

The prolific guard inked a rookie max extension with the Grizzlies last summer worth $192.2 million over five years — a number that could have been bumped up to around $230 million if Moran had made the All-NBA cut.

The snub comes as the latest setback for Morant, who has had a rather tumultuous 2023 after being suspended for eight games, and the Grizzlies missing out on a deep playoff run. He did have the numbers to show for averaging 26.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 8.1 assists from 61 games.

The All-NBA teams saw Boston Celtics superstars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum make the list, making them eligible for a supermax extension. Here’s a quick look at the 2023 All-NBA Teams:

1st Team: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Doncic, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo

2nd Team: Stephen Curry, Donovan Mitchell, Jimmy Butler, Nikola Jokic, Jaylen Brown

3rd Team: Damian Lillard, De’Aaron Fox, LeBron James, Julius Randle, Domantas Sabonis

Guess Morant will have a point to prove in the next season.

Ja Morant Reacts To All-NBA Team Snub

The point guard didn’t waste any time in making his intentions clear after the All-NBA snub. Morant took to Twitter to post a crisp but clear message that would be back soon.

Also expressing his disappointment was Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young. The guard tweeted, “They” said I had “empty stats.”

While the selection could be debatable, the results are out there and now both Morant and Young have business to settle. Both their teams were knocked out in the first round of the postseason, and they will be itching for payback in the 2023-24 season.
