LeBron James revealed the difference between the Lakers’ first-round playoff matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies and their ongoing semifinal skirmish against the Golden State Warriors.

“Every moment is its own opportunity to see what you’re made of,” James said after their Game 5 loss to Golden State at the Chase Center. “We can’t base the last series onto this series. The series is different. The opponent is different. The challenge is different.”

The 38-year-old also credited his team for their transition to playing top-class basketball after the All-Star break. Despite their best efforts to close out the series in Game 5, the Warriors bounced back, forcing a Game 6 at the Crypto.com Arena on Friday.

The forward propped up 25 points in the loss and LA was without Anthony Davis, who suffered a blow to his head. He was later evaluated for concussion and head coach Darvin Ham provided a crucial update after the defeat. Recent reports suggest he will be tested again for concussion.

LA has one more shot at winning the one game they need to win, but as James said, there was no room for error, and they would need their best efforts to come to the fore on Friday.

Much Depends On LeBron James And Anthony Davis To Get The Lakers Across The Finish Line

While the Lakers surely have the firepower with a better-balanced squad after the trade deadline, they will still need James and Davis to fire to make it past a belligerent Warriors unit.

“When you look at me and Bron, we consider ourselves one of the top duos in the league,” said Davis earlier. “We’re trying to do everything we can to try to take advantage of this window that we have. Championship-built teams don’t always come around.”

The good news is that Davis is expected to play Game 6, while James, despite tweaking his ankle, is expected to suit up as well. Only time will tell if they can send Golden State back on Friday on a promising home game.
