  • Bleacher Report released its list of the best top five duos in today’s NBA
  • Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown didn’t make the cut
  • Not all fans were keen on the list

NBA fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Bleacher Report’s best five duos in the league and also added their list of duos to it.

The site’s Grant Hughes listed the below players (in that order) as the best five duos in the NBA today:

Here are some of the reactions from fans:

Some asked about Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

The Boston Celtics weren’t far behind.

This was seconded by another fan who wrote:

One segment hated that Jokic and Murray weren’t No. 1 on the list.

“You would think Jimmy/Bam and Tatum/Brown playing each other in 3 of the last 4 ECFs would have them being top 5 but nope,” a fan tweeted.

Khris Middleton wasn’t forgotten.

Just to add, the following pairs made honorary mentions:

When talking about Doncic and Irving, Hughes listed them as “two of the best offensive creators and ball-handlers in basketball.” He added that the team’s offensive rating climbed up to 121.7 with both on the court last season, although the win-loss record reflected rather poorly.

The analyst put Jokic and Murray at No. 3, saying that their chemistry was one of the reasons behind the team’s maiden NBA championship.

“Jokic is the best passing big man of all time who wields this ability like a magic wand, casting a spell that instantly elevates the play of all around him. Perhaps no player benefitted from this more than Murray, who received 39.4 percent of his passes from Jokic, with no other player coming in above 11.1 percent.”

Surely, every analyst has his right to opinions, and while the list received major flak for not including Tatum and Brown, he did have his reasons. In our opinion, the Celtics duo should have definitely made the cut.

Jayson Tatum And Jaylen Brown Were One Of The Best Duos Last Season

Despite their six years of experience in the league and making the NBA Finals together in 2022, it was surprising that the star pair of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown failed to make the list of the top 5.

Such was their domination together that the Celtics made the Conference Finals this past season and even bounced back against the Miami Heat after trailing 0-3 but went down in Game 7.

And it was Brown’s scintillating display that saw him earn the richest contract in NBA history. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists last season, while Tatum had 30.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists, making for a dynamic duo in the league.

That said, the Celtics duo would have sights on making a point if they were to have read this list. Only time will tell how they fare in the 2023-24 season.
