NBA Fans React To Four Poor Referee Calls Against The Lakers In The Last Two Weeks

Referees ruining the outcome of Laker games this season has been a storyline that's gained a lot of steam after 2 weeks of bad results in LA.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been the victim of some extremely egregious officiating in recent weeks. Many of their close games have been decided by referee calls against them, with fans being up in arms about most of them.

The recent no-call on a foul committed by Jayson Tatum on LeBron James created an absolute furor over refereeing as even the staunchest Celtics’ fans could see that LeBron had been fouled by Tatum. James could have gone to the line and given the Lakers a late lead, avoiding overtime and then possibly not losing the game.

Fans have pointed out that referees have cost the Lakers 4 games in the last 2 weeks. These games came against the Dallas Mavericks, Philadelphia 76ers, Sacramento Kings, and now, the Boston Celtics.

These controversial plays have all been criticized, but the Lakers have just left these games with losses. Without referee errors, the Lakers could have been as high as the sixth seed right now.

Referee Errors At An All-Time High Against The Lakers

These incidents have been extremely scrutinized, yet the Lakers keep getting the short end of the officiating stick. LeBron James is also far off the pace for free throws attempted as compared to other high-volume drivers like Luka Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Mavericks’ loss was one where referees actually ended up favoring the Lakers in most calls, though a Christian Wood foul on LeBron was missed, along with a Tim Hardaway Jr. foul on Troy Brown Jr., which could have helped the Lakers put the game away in regulation. Joel Embiid was caught grabbing Russell Westbrook’s hand on the final play of their loss to the 76ers, and now Tatum’s foul on LeBron cost them the Celtics game.

It has to be tough on the psyche of the players, but hopefully, they can continue playing their way back into the playoffs.
