Ben Simmons is among the most disliked NBA players right now. While Simmons has tried to get back to the level that made him an All-NBA player and an All-Star, it seems something has fundamentally switched in Simmons’ psyche that limits him from being the threat on the court he once was.

Simmons was never an offensive machine but could contribute enough to be a consistent double-digit scorer in Philadelphia. However, he has been extremely passive since his meltdown in the 2021 playoffs and subsequent trade to the Brooklyn Nets. Simmons is averaging under 10 points a game, often passing out of open layups.

Fans are mocking him by photoshopping him into a space suit on a question that asked whether someone would shoot an open layup or be sent to the moon.

Simmons and his offensive struggles are well-known but still surprising, given the time he’s spent in the league. This is a player that has had more girlfriends (6) than made 3-pointers in the NBA (5), something he has promised to get better at since he was drafted in 2016.

Will Ben Simmons Ever Return To The Level He Used To Be At?

Simmons’ offense wasn’t what made him valuable, as his playmaking and defense have always been primary assets for him. His frame has been a gift as well, with people once comparing him to LeBron James. However, his injury issues and inability to contribute with the ball in his hand at the clutch have made him a rotational player just 2 years after he finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

If someone can come in and unlock him once again, the Nets may bear the fruits of the incredible ability that Ben has shown he possesses. With Jacque Vaughn recently criticizing him openly, it seems he has to find a way to overcome the situation on his own.
