If you would have told someone this time last year, that Jalen Brunson would be the biggest basketball star in New York in 2023, they probably would have called you crazy. He was barely recognized outside of Dallas unless you were a hardcore NBA fan, but things have changed a lot in a year.

With Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving leaving the Brooklyn Nets, Brunson has now taken over New York and he has been sensational this month. A 40-point outing against the Nets on Monday night meant he is now averaging 32.5 PPG on 60.9% shooting from the field in 6 games in February, which is absurd.

Some stars were in attendance at Madison Square Garden for the game as you might imagine, with Iggy Azalea being one of them. After Brunson’s spectacular performance, she congratulated him with a hug on the court and the two had a conversation.

NBA fans hilariously reacted to this interaction as they praised Brunson.

“Bro saw Iggy courtside and turned to prime Kobe he the new Jordan Poole”

“No wonder he dropped a 40 ball “

“My bad Brunson, I wasn’t familiar with your game.”

“Inspirational performance”

“I’m breaking Wilts 100 pt game if that was me”

“THATS MY PG”

“LMAO NAHHHHHHH THIS MAN IS MY GOAT”

“King of NY”

“Already one of the greatest Garden performances of the last decade”

“BrunsHIM!”

“My palms would be sweating stumbling over my words knees trembling”

“Adam silver gotta kick someone out the ASG to put Jalen in now”

“Finest in the roooom “

“My PG really in GOD MODE”

“YEAH BRUNSON “

“Oh that’s why he turned into Steph Curry tonight”

“this explains why he thought he was 96 Jordan tonight”

“He got that dawg in him”

“Dam that’s “

“Man leveled up after the mavs”

Azalea has dated NBA players like Nick Young and Malik Monk in the past but that is not the case here. Brunson got engaged to his long-time girlfriend Ali Marks last year and they had been dating since their high school days. It isn’t a surprise though to see celebrities around Brunson these days, as he really seems to be on his way to making New York his city.

Should Jalen Brunson Have Been An All-Star This Season?

The Knicks have enjoyed a bounce-back season thanks to Brunson, as they find themselves at 7th in the Eastern Conference with a 32-27 record. His excellent play and the team’s resurgence meant he had a pretty good chance at becoming an All-Star, but he wasn’t chosen among the reserves.

Charles Barkley was shocked that Brunson got snubbed, as he really had a strong case. He could still make it in as a replacement though, as Jaylen Brown is a doubt for the game after suffering a facial fracture. You hate to see someone get injured, but it might mean Brunson deservedly getting a spot on the roster.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
