After having a disappointing first season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Russell Westbrook has certainly redeemed himself in the 2022-23 NBA season. All it took for him to do that was to come off the bench and lead the second unit for the Lakers.
Russell Westbrook has obviously contributed a lot to the Los Angeles Lakers now having an 11-15 record after a shocking 0-5 start to the season. So much so that NBA fans discussed if the Lakers should give Westbrook a contract extension as well.
While most have accepted Westbrook as an integral part of the team, there are still rumors that suggest that the Lakers want to include him in a trade with the Chicago Bulls to acquire the likes of DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic.
The Chicago Bulls Have No Interest In Russell Westbrook
Despite Russell Westbrook having a great season off the bench, recent rumors have suggested that the Bulls have zero interest in the former NBA MVP.
So while the Lakers might be looking to make a big trade and have their eyes on the Bulls’ roster, the feeling isn’t mutual. According to a source, executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas has no interest in acquiring Russell Westbrook and his expiring contract, even if it means adding draft picks.
The Bulls simply do not want to take on the expiring contract of Russell Westbrook. Upon finding this out, here’s how NBA fans reacted to the news:
The lakers should be the ones saying no not the bulls

Lakers fans claiming, "we don't want them either."
1) Vooch and DeRozan would instantly become the best shooters on the Lakers
2) Hasn't the Lakers front office been courting DeRozan for years now?

As usual, it's a case of people wanting to add talent to the Lakers without thinking about the trade from the perspective of the other team.

The point of a trade for the Bulls would be to tank and get 2 unprotected picks. Why do they care what expiring salary comes back?

But it looks to me that DeRozen wants to go to LA. Hanging with Mr. James over the summer and his body language with The Bulls looks a bit off from time to time.

Y’all need to watch a lakers game lol, y’all act like Russ a scrub, he’s the lakers most consistent and probably best player this year

Many fans pointed out the fact that Westbrook may have made a comeback, but getting two All-Star caliber players from him still sounds like a pipedream. Moreover, the best thing for the Lakers to do right now would be to focus on winning games with the current roster instead of trying to stir things up. The current roster of the team is finally building chemistry, and trading Westbrook could certainly disrupt that.
