Wingstop is the “Official Wings” of the Detroit Pistons, and one of the company’s promotional campaigns has recently gone viral. Wingstop offers five free wings for any online order, when the Pistons win, and NBA fans find that to be hilarious, as Detroit is now 2-19 on the season.

One joked that Wingstop won’t be giving away anything this year.

A fan hilariously said Wingstop would have saved a lot of money this season.

This is the greatest promotion ever a fan felt, but he lamented that it is based on the Pistons’ success.

A fan brutally stated that even Wingstop knows the Pistons won’t win.

One roasted the Pistons for letting people down by losing so much.

It is unclear when this promotion started, but they certainly have not had to give away too many wings. The Pistons are in the midst of the longest active losing streak in the NBA, having lost 18 in a row. Their record is the worst in the league and based on the upcoming schedule, I see even more losses on the horizon.

The Pistons face the Orlando Magic, Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers (twice), and Milwaukee Bucks in their next five games and it’d be a shock if they win any of those. If they do lose all of them as expected, then the Pistons will be perilously close to the all-time record.

The 76ers lost 28 games in a row from the end of the 2015-16 season through to the start of the 2016-17 season. They finished that 2016-17 campaign with a 10-72 record and the Pistons are on pace for an even worse one. Their winning percentage of 9.5% is the lowest in NBA history and has this team on pace for about an 8-74 record.

The Monty Williams Hire Has Not Worked Out So Far

After missing the playoffs for the fourth consecutive campaign in 2022-23, the Pistons hired Monty Williams as their new head coach. Williams was given a six-year, $72 million deal by the Pistons, and it’s safe to say he has not proven to be worth all that money as of now.

Not only has his coaching come under question, but his handling of players as well. Williams fell out with Jae Crowder before last season and he has now been criticized for reducing Jaden Ivey’s role following a promising rookie season.

It was just two years ago that Williams had led the Phoenix Suns to an unbeaten November, going 16-0 in 2021. Now with the Pistons, he just went 0-15 in November 2023. I don’t see Detroit firing Williams anytime soon, considering that massive contract, but they might just be regretting that decision now.

They don’t have a great roster by any means, but it is not this bad. Cade Cunningham is averaging 22.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.0 steals per game, while they have other promising young talents like Ivey, Ausar Thompson, and Jalen Duren.

The return of Bojan Bogdanovic, who missed the first 18 games with a strained right calf, could help matters, though. He has averaged 22.0 points per game in his two outings and the one-two punch with him and Cunningham might well lead to some more wins.
