NBA Fans Rip The Trail Blazers For Discussing Kristaps Porzingis Trade With No. 3 Pick

Trail Blazers and Wizards had trade talks centered around Kristaps Porzingis.

The Portland Trail Blazers have made it clear that they intend to keep building around Damian Lillard this summer, but putting together a title-contending team will be no easy feat for GM Joe Cronin. The Blazers have some assets to work with, namely their lottery pick in the upcoming draft, but how much they’re willing to give up in any deal remains a mystery at the moment.

What we do know is that the Blazers have discussed a deal for Wizards big man Kristaps Porzingis, which would obviously involve giving up the no. 3 pick.

“Per source, the Trailblazers have had trade discussions with the Wizards surrounding the No. 3 pick and Kristaps Porzingis. More pieces would be involved, but something to watch,” reported NBA insider Evan Massey.

Kristaps Porzingis is a pretty solid player who is coming off a career year in D.C., but his ceiling is not one of an NBA superstar, and it’s surprising that the Blazers would even consider giving up a prospect like Scoot Henderson to take on Porzingis and his ridiculous contract.

On Twitter, many fans reacted with disgust and blasted the franchise for considering such a lopsided trade.

The Trail Blazers are in no position to misstep this summer. With nothing to show for a decade of the Damian Lillard experience, the time is now for Portland to build a contender and show Dame that they mean business.

Would trading for Porzingis, who has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career, really be the best option for Portland? It doesn’t take an expert to see that the answer is probably no.

Will Damian Lillard Request A Trade?

Despite the notice coming out of Portland, sources say that Lillard is still very much committed to winning with the Blazers. As one of the top point guards in the game, he can take the team on a deep run with enough help and firepower on the roster.

Fortunately, there are other names in the mix besides Porzingis: Bradley Beal, Jordan Poole, and Pascal Siakam have also emerged as potential trade targets and all of them bring their own positives and negatives to the table.

The important thing for Portland is that they take their time to consider what is right for them.
