NBA Fans dished out some throwbacks of the Phoenix Suns doing something similar after they complained about Zion Williamson’s late windmill dunk in the New Orleans Pelicans’ comprehensive 128-117 win.

The Suns weren’t a pleased lot when they saw Williamson load up for a dunk and a heated exchange between players and coaches from both camps followed. For a team that had words to say, they have done something similar in the past and the fans had proof.

Clips of Paul doing it against the Portland Trail Blazers when he was with the Houston Rockets along with more clips of the Suns’ players dunking in blowout games did the rounds on social media.

The Suns players were furious with how Zion closed the game last night. The community brought out evidence of them doing something similar to other teams

Responses to the post were all about the fans slamming Phoenix for expressing their displeasure when they were guilty of doing the same in the past.

Zion Williamson Explains The Reason Behind His Last-Minute Slam

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of the win, Zion Williamson shed light on his vicious dunk. While he admitted it was rather uncharacteristic of him to do what he did, he also felt it was a timely reminder of what the team was capable of.

The rivalry sparked when the Suns ousted the Pelicans during the first round of the playoffs last year, and the series had its share of drama. Paul and Jose Alvarado had a bit of a skirmish when the former kicked him in the groin, while Williamson had a frustrating year sitting out due to his injury.

According to ESPN:

“That was a little out of character for me. But you’ve got to understand, I mean, you can understand it or not. They sent my teammates home last year.”

“I missed all last year. I got carried away a little bit. I admit that. But you know, I was in that locker room when my brothers were down because the Suns sent us home last year. That’s a tough moment to be a part of. So in that moment, I got carried away. I admit that. … If they were to do the same thing, I wouldn’t have no problem with it.”

The two teams square off again on Sunday, and more fireworks can be expected. New Orleans will be keen to retain its top spot in the West, while Phoenix will hope for payback and make a surge in the standings as well.
