Stephen A. Smith is once again calling out the Los Angeles Lakers for their dependency on Anthony Davis. The Brow is returning to his best level right now, playing better and better every game.

The Los Angeles Lakers aren’t even a top-10 team right now, but with Davis’ displays, they have gotten some hope about their future this season. Russell Westbrook is playing at a great level off the bench, but the clear star of the team has been Davis, who is on a tear right now.

Even Shaquille O’Neal, who heavily criticized AD before, is praising the power forward for his recent displays. However, not everything is a joy for these Lakers, as they’re getting too dependent on the Brow, which could become a problem for the Purple and Gold.

Stephen A. Smith Isn’t Happy With The 2022-23 Lakers

Stephen A. Smith issued a warning to the team, saying that they must be careful of their overreliance on AD. Yes, he’s playing at a good level right now, but without AD, their defense goes away. That can become a big deal for them eventually. Following the duel between Davis and Joel Embiid on Friday night, Smith had this to say on NBA Countdown:

“It’s clearly Anthony Davis. Simply because the Lakers don’t have a defense without him, without him, they giving up about 123 points a game, they can’t stop a cold. That’s the bottom line. And that’s what it really really comes down to. And he’s their interior offense as well. LeBron can get to the hole, Russell Westbrook can get to the hole. But, you talking about somebody that can play with their back to the basket, and get to the hole, get in the paint, make things happen, block shots, rebound – that would be Anthony Davis,” Smith said.

AD is playing at a great level right now, but it seems like the Lakers’ good moments had a lot to do with his good performances. The Purple and Gold are ready to compete and reach the .500 before going further and competing for a top spot in the Western Conference.

Davis will be crucial in that quest, but the Lakers must be careful of putting everything in his hands.
