NBA Insider Brian Windhorst Says Dallas Mavericks Will Be “At The Front Of The Line” In Pursuit Of Giannis Antetokounmpo

2 Min Read

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Dallas Mavericks will be a major frontrunner in the race to sign Giannis Antetokounmpo next summer, when the young superstar is scheduled to become an unrestricted free-agent.

“The Dallas Mavericks are gonna be at the head of the line in pursuing Giannis. They want to have a 3rd star,” said Windhorst. “They want to keep their books clear for 2021, I wouldn’t expect them to add any major free agents this year. They’re going to wait.”

Brian’s report is just the latest in a long line of rumors regarding the reigning NBA MVP. Following another disappointing performance in the postseason, many believe he could explore other venues if the Bucks don’t convince him they are a place he can win Championships.

In terms of being an attractive destination for stars and other free-agents, not many rank above the Dallas Mavericks, who have built a winning and competitive culture behind the performance of young European superstar Luka Doncic. Despite their season having ended in the first round, the Mavs remain a franchise on the rise and it’s only a matter of time before they add another difference-maker to the roster.

Could Giannis be that next big acquisition?

With cap-space and a whole lot to offer, it is certainly not out of the question.
