Lakers guard Danny Green has been the target of scrutiny by Lakers Nation online as a result of his failure to convert on an open three-pointer late in L.A.’s Game 5 loss against the Heat on Friday. Green, who has reportedly been receiving death threats, called himself an “easy target” as he spoke to those who have been harassing him and his family.
Danny Green said that has spoken to his fiancĂ©e about the death threats she has received on social media directed at her and him since Game 5. … And I feel kind of silly sharing this news on a social media platform. Get a grip, people.

Danny Green on the fans who've made death threats against him & his fiancĂ© after his missed shot: "I hope they're that passionate about voting, or injustice for these people who deserve justice – we'll get some better change in the country." The news that fans have made things personal is pretty jarring. Even amid widespread criticism, it never seems appropriate to issue threats or involve a family member who has no ties to the situation.
As for the shot itself, Green came to his own defense, adding that the miss was not the only reason his team lost that game.
Lakers' Danny Green on that shot he missed at the end of Game 5: "I had more time than I realized, should have taken more time…I'd give anything to get that shot back again, trust me." Still, he adds "any person that plays basketball knows it's never only on one play." pic.twitter.com/t1NC4dwA9J

With postseason averages well-below his norm, it’s undeniable that the Lakers swingman has struggled mightily throughout these playoffs. The team needs him to step up.
Unfortunately, the fallout that has resulted has been far greater than any player should have to endure.
