James Harden Took A Veiled Shot At Ben Simmons While Talking About His Partnership With Joel Embiid

James Harden's recent comments about being the best playmaker that Joel Embiid has played with can be taken as a veiled shot at Ben Simmons.

James Harden and Joel Embiid seem like they were almost meant to play with one another. The Beard flirted with joining the Sixers long before he was traded there, making a pit stop in Brooklyn along the way. Eventually, he came to Philadelphia in a trade that saw Ben Simmons sent the other way after it didn’t work out for the Australian in Philly.

It seems like both teams are purring now, with the Sixers back toward the top of the Eastern Conference and the Brooklyn Nets in similar territory. The injury to Kevin Durant is costing the Nets at the moment, but Ben Simmons is expected to be one of the players to step up in his absence. Recently, James Harden made a comment that could be perceived as a shot at Simmons.

“I’m sure he’s never played with a playmaker like me.”

“I’m sure he’s never played with a playmaker like me.”

Joel Embiid played for a long time alongside Ben Simmons, whose main attributes were always how well he could defend and how well he could pass. Simmons has been trolled mercilessly by fans about his inability to shoot, but no one has ever questioned his talent at distributing the ball.

However, James Harden is just as good at that, if not better. Harden is matching his highest-ever assists per-game numbers this season, making 11.2 per game. The Beard has earned the right to talk that talk, and after a recent great win against the Los Angeles Lakers, it’s safe to say that spirits are high in Philly. This is a pretty wild thing for Harden to say, though, especially considering that he’s not thirsty for credit.

James Harden Doesn’t Care About Not Getting Credit For His Achievements

James Harden is a former MVP and one of the greatest scorers in NBA history. But many aspects of his game often get talked down on thanks to narratives. However, he recently claimed that he doesn’t care about that.

“I don’t need the credit. I don’t really care. I guess people give credit to who they want to give credit to. You know what I mean? Like, they pick and choose who they want to give credit to. If I was to sit there and feel some type of way that I wasn’t getting any credit, I wouldn’t be doing a million other things that I’m supposed to be doing. I focus on what I can control. I go out there and do my job and try to be the best James Harden I can be.”

There is only one goal that James Harden needs to achieve now, and that is to win a title. Playing next to a player like Joel Embiid should make that a much simpler process, but the East is tough this season. It’s safe to say that nobody will be writing off the Joel Embiid-James Harden combo just yet, though.
