Kevin Durant has been playing at an incredibly high level this season. The offseason drama cost the Brooklyn Nets quite a bit to start the season and eventually resulted in the firing of Steve Nash. But since Jacque Vaughn took over, the team has been on something of a tear. And Kevin Durant has very much been the main man in that process, he has been playing as a man possessed.

That’s why things took a bit of a turn for the Nets when Kevin Durant went down with an injury against the Miami Heat. KD had to exit the game and there were a lot of concerns among fans that this would cost him and the Nets dearly this season. Kyrie Irving issued some fighting words when asked about the situation, but the reality is that the Nets will likely struggle to keep at the same level they were at without Durant.

Adrian Wojnarowski Reported That Kevin Durant Would Miss Around A Month Of Playing Time With An MCL Sprain

The speculation about Kevin Durant’s injury has been relentless for the last few weeks, he is one of the frontrunners for MVP at the moment. And if he’s not going to be playing for a significant amount of time, that changes a lot of things on that front. So Adrian Wojnarowski sharing a timeline for his injury and return is quite significant.

“Breaking: Kevin Durant has been diagnosed with an isolated MCL sprain of the right knee and he’ll be re-evaluated in two weeks, the Nets announced. There’s optimism Durant will miss less time than he did with a six-week absence last season.”

“While Kevin Durant did miss six weeks with a left MCL sprain a season ago, there’s optimism that this is a less severe injury unlikely to cost him more than a month on the sidelines, sources tell ESPN.”

If he is out for less than a month, then the Brooklyn Nets can still hope to be playing at a level good enough to stay in the top seeds in the Eastern Conference. However, if this injury slows KD down during what is one of the most epic seasons of his career so far, it will truly be quite a shame.
