LeBron James is without a doubt a legend for the game of basketball. He is widely viewed as the best small forward ever, and he has won multiple championships and MVP awards. Even in year 19, LeBron James has been phenomenal. Currently, he is putting up 29.8 PPG, 8.2 RPG, and 6.2 APG.
Recently, LeBron James has become second in all-time scoring. Many don't traditionally consider him a scorer, since his game revolves around playmaking. However, he is a fantastic scorer in his own right. Some, like Isiah Thomas, even believe that he could potentially have a legitimate GOAT case if he ends up becoming the all-time leading scorer and passes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for that honor.
When he passes Kareem in scoring, you HAVE to anoint him as the GOAT.
LeBron James took to Instagram to commemorate him passing Karl Malone for 2nd place in all-time scoring. James claimed that he is "literally speechless", and added that he loves "this game" and "will do anything for it".
Ummmmm… WOW MAN!! #ThekidfromAKRONis literally speechless and beyond thankful!! I love this game and will do anything for it! I’m having a blast. #2AllTimeScoring but I’m a not a scorer *Suppa Hot Fire voice
There is no doubt that LeBron James has pushed the game forwards in a lot of ways. It is amazing to see him continue to dominate the NBA throughout different eras of the game, and this achievement shows just how insane his longevity is.
Hopefully, we see LeBron James pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sooner rather than later to become the leader in all-time scoring. That would be an amazing accomplishment and perhaps more people will end up viewing him as the GOAT of basketball after he does that.
