In their attempts to spice up the regular season, the NBA was bringing in an In-Season tournament from the 2023-24 campaign. There was a lot of intrigue on just how something like this would work and Commissioner Adam Silver had shared some details in April.

Now, the NBA has officially revealed just how the tournament will pan out. First of all, it will commence on the third of November with the group stage which will conclude on the 28th of November. The teams have been divided into six groups for it, three in each conference.

West Group A: Memphis Grizzlies, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz, Portland Trail Blazers.

West Group B: Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets.

West Group C: Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs.

East Group A: Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, Indiana Pacers, Detroit Pistons.

East Group B: Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Washington Wizards, Charlotte Hornets.

East Group C: Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls, Orlando Magic.

Every team will have four group-stage games, two at home and two on the road. These groups were drawn by placing teams in pots based on their record last season. The winners of each of these groups will advance to the knockouts, along with two wildcards, which would be the best-performing runner-up in the two conferences.

The knockout round will then be single elimination games. The final four teams left standing will head to the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for the semi-final and then the final. All games except for the final, will count toward the regular season record for these teams.

The winning team will receive a new trophy, the NBA Cup, and the prize money will be allocated to players depending on how far their team advances. The league will also name an MVP for the tournament and there will be an All-Tournament Team as well.
