NBA Rumors: Joel Embiid Still Thinks Ben Simmons Can Help Sixers Win

2 Min Read

The Philadelphia 76ers’ relationship with Ben Simmons is anything but good right now. The player is reportedly keen to leave the franchise and won’t participate in training camp, trying to force his way out of the team.

Even with all the financial consequences this decision could have for Simmons, the player is ready to skip the camp while the team tries to find him a new home in the league.

After these reports saw the light, some people within the organization spoke, trying to convince Simmons that he’s a key player for the Sixers’ success in the stacked Eastern Conference.

First, Doc Rivers praised the player, saying he’s ready to work with Ben again, trying to win a championship for the team. Moreover, Joel Embiid is on the same page as his head coach.

Kyle Neubeck of Philly Voice reports that the big man is ready to move on from past issues and give it another shot with Ben.

“Though it doesn’t look good right now, the Sixers continue to insist that their preferred outcome at this point is to bring Simmons back and try to work through this. Embiid has publicly stumped for Simmons and privately insisted they can turn this around if they simply get him back in the gym and around the team. Rivers does not believe this will be an issue in the locker room, using an example from his own playing days to show these situations can be rectified.”

The Sixers have a lot in their hands right now. After several years of trying to win a title, things haven’t clicked for the team. The last season, Simmons earned a lot of criticism for his shooting woes, especially against the Atlanta Hawks in the second round of the playoff.

The relationship with the fans is extremely damaged, and nothing points out that Ben will change his mind and stay with the team one more season.
