NBA Rumors: Portland Trail Blazers Interested In Blake Griffin

2 Min Read

The Portland Trail Blazers are 21-16 entering the All-Star break, and that’s with CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic having missed the past month with injuries.

With their roster fully healthy, Portland could be a team to look out for in the weeks to come, especially if they make a move for 6x All-Star Blake Griffin. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Blazers are a potential destination for Griffin, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent.

Six-time NBA All-Star Blake Griffin has agreed to a contract buyout with the Detroit Pistons and will become an unrestricted free agent, the team announced Friday.

The Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers are expected to be among the teams Griffin will be considering for his next stop, sources tell ESPN.

Portland isn’t favored to win the title in 2021, but the culture and identity of the locker room is one that seems to be an appeal for players. Under Dane’s leadership, in a positive environment, with a big role, Griffin could thrive.

In 20 games with the Pistons this season, he’s averaging 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.

With the Blazers angling for a long playoff run, he could be the key to finally making some waves in the Western Conference.
