NBA Rumors: Warriors Want To Sign Jordan Poole To Multi-Year Extension, Projected At $80 Million Over Four Years

Jordan Poole was a key cog for the Golden State Warriors earlier this season. He filled in admirably for Klay Thompson as a starter but has now been moved to the sixth man role on the team.

While his role is smaller now, Jordan Poole is still an electric guard with upside, and he could still be a fantastic player for the Warriors in the future. It was recently reported by Taylor Wirth of NBC Sports that the Golden State Warriors will try to sign Jordan Poole to a multi-year extension this summer.

“The Warriors also will try to sign Poole to a multiyear extension this summer, which would allow them to avoid having to deal with him in restricted free agency in 2023,” Letourneau writes. “Keith Smith, a salary-cap expert for Spotrac, estimates that deal to be in the four-year, $80 million range.”

As Letourneau mentions, signing Poole now will create one less headache for the Warriors in 2023, where they will already be strapped for cash and facing a possible max contract situation for Andrew Wiggins, who is an unrestricted free agent after the 2022-23 season.

It’s estimated that Wiggins will command somewhere in the range of $37 million annually in 2023-24 if signed to a max contract. That is on top of Curry, Thompson and Green’s contracts, which will account for $122.7 million that season.

There is no doubt that extending Jordan Poole could prove to be very beneficial for the Golden State Warriors. He has shown that he can be a solid shot creator, and he is the perfect guard to take over as Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry enter the latter stages of their careers.

Jordan Poole has previously stated that he wants to be an All-Star in the future, and a player with that sort of desire clearly wants to be great. It is clear that Poole has a bright future, and perhaps we’ll see him achieve his goal of becoming an All-Star later on in his career.
