Myles Turner has found himself at the center of trade rumors for what seems like forever. The big man was heavily linked with the Los Angeles Lakers last year but in the end, nothing happened and he remained with the Indiana Pacers.

Turner is now having probably his best season, as he averaging a career-high 17.0 PPG while shooting 55.1% from the field, which is also a personal best. He has also been great on the defensive end by averaging 2.4 BPG but Michael Scotto believes that the Pacers still won’t get a first-round pick if they trade the big man.

“My thing with Myles is previously last year they wanted 2 first-round picks for him and now he is on an expiring deal. I don’t know if you’re going to be able to get a first-round pick for him. You almost may have your hand forced because how many teams right now are looking to actively get better and get a center for a win-now run at a championship that is a playoff contender? I don’t see a rebuilding team making a trade for him at that point.”

“If you’re the Lakers right now they have struggled this season and they haven’t shown a willingness to make that blockbuster trade for him and Buddy Hield that has been talked about since the summer quite frankly. So to me, you can’t trade a guy if there aren’t a ton of buyers.”

“I almost feel like the best-case scenario for Myles in terms of his role as a true 5 and getting the most opportunity for his development and potentially getting paid, in my opinion right now would be to stay in Indiana.”

He doesn’t seem to want to stay in Indiana anymore though, as he reportedly has rebuffed their extension offers. You can’t blame him for not being particularly interested in staying, considering how willing the team has been to trade him in the past. The Pacers might end up being forced to part with him for less than what they want, as they would be at risk of losing him for nothing in the summer when he is a free agent.

What Does The Future Hold For Myles Turner?

It was reported last month that the Lakers, Warriors, and Clippers were interested in Turner. He is also one of the bigs being looked at by the Toronto Raptors, who have needed a capable big man for a while now after the likes of Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka left the team.

The Pacers would be hoping that a bidding war starts for Turner close to the deadline but it doesn’t seem like any of those teams are really desperate for him at the moment. It might be a situation at the end where some team gets him as a massive steal on deadline day.
