The Dallas Mavericks lost in the first round of the playoffs once again, despite the best efforts of superstar Luka Doncic. The Mavericks desperately lacked scoring, as there was not a player on that roster that consistently put the ball in the basket aside from Doncic himself.
Mark Cuban has gone on record saying that the Dallas Mavericks need a second scorer to help Luka Doncic. It seems as though they could find that in free agency, as a report by Kristian Winfield has recently linked the Mavericks to Spencer Dinwiddie of the Brooklyn Nets. Dinwiddie is a great two-way guard who can score and facilitate, while also playing solid perimeter defense.
There’s the potential Dinwiddie could be a team’s starting point guard. The Daily News learned the Mavericks made their interest in Dinwiddie known and are a candidate to sign him in free agency.
Spencer Dinwiddie has spent his time as a 6th man with the Brooklyn Nets for the most part, but he is definitely talented enough to warrant a starting role. He would certainly get more usage with the Dallas Mavericks, and it would be interesting to see how he does as a second option next to Luka Doncic. While we won’t know Dinwiddie’s free agency decision until it’s officially announced, it seems as though he could be making his way to Dallas.
