NBA Rumors: Mavericks Could Trade For Kevin Love

1 Min Read

With an 18-16 record, the Dallas Mavericks are hanging on the edge of the playoff picture in the West. With Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, they have the pieces to compete for years to come.

But, according to Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor, they are looking at bringing in another name: Cleveland’s Kevin Love.

Love, 32, isn’t the same player he was in Minnesota. But his shooting and rebounding continue to be an effective part of his repertoire. Averaging 9.5 points, 6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 23 minutes, Love is having a statistical low point in his career — but it doesn’t mean he can’t be valuable to a contending team.

In Dallas, his shooting stroke alongside Kristaps Porzingis and Luka Doncic would give the Mavs a significant edge on the offensive end. Between Doncic’s playmaking and scoring ability, KP’s shooting stroke, and Love’s scoring arsenal, the Mavs could become a team to fear in the West.

But it remains to be seen if they are willing to pay the price to get him, and if acquiring him would really be enough to put them among the Eastern elite.
