This season, the Los Angeles Clippers have been hovering around the .500 mark and, as a result, have stayed around the middle of the pack in the Western Conference.
There are many things that the Los Angeles Clippers can improve on their roster, but the major issue for them remains in the point guard and center positions. Although the organization signed John Wall in the offseason, Wall has been coming off the bench for the team.
Keeping that in mind, NBA insider Marc Stein provided some insight about a potential Mike Conley Jr. trade that the Clippers could indulge in soon.
Via Stein Line:
The Clippers, league sources say, are exploring trade options to fortify their frontcourt beyond Ivica Zubac, but that’s not all. Sources say they also have trade interest in Utah’s Mike Conley Jr. amid a rising belief leaguewide that the Jazz — who have tumbled to No. 9 in the West at 22-24 after their great start — could become a much-needed seller at this deadline. The Clippers’ backcourt depth just took a hit with the news that John Wall is out for at least two weeks with an abdominal strain.
While Conley has turned 35 years old, he is averaging a career-high 7.5 APG this season. The Clippers can certainly use a playmaker like him on the current roster to help the dynamic duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
Marc Stein Provides Insight About The Future Of Kyle Kuzma
Apart from revealing that the Clippers have an interest in Mike Conley Jr., Marc Stein also provided an update about the future of Kyle Kuzma. This season, Kuzma is averaging 21.7 PPG, 7.4 RPG, and 3.9 APG. Many believe that the Washington Wizards forward may become an NBA All-Star for the first time in his career.
As a result, Kuzma is obviously hoping to get a hefty contract. Evidently, he has been involved in many trade rumors as of late. However, as per Stein, the Wizards are definitely interested in paying Kuzma and uninterested in trading him ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline.
The Wizards continue to push back on the idea that they are going to move Kyle Kuzma before the deadline, repeatedly insisting behind the scenes that they are prepared to pay Kuzma what it takes to stay after he becomes an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. The belief persists in various corners of the NBA map that Kuzma would prefer to relocate in the offseason but perhaps that is wishful thinking from teams that covet him.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Kyle Kuzma and the Wizards. If he makes earns the first NBA All-Star recognition of his career, his demands will certainly go up. Moreover, he could simply wait until the offseason to join the team of his choice.
