James Harden is once again making the rounds around the NBA for his desire to leave a team. After picking his player option for the 2023-24 NBA season, the guard requested a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers, marking the third time he’s asked out of a team in the last two years.

Harden isn’t in a good position right now, even though his market could be good. Not everybody has the assets to unlock a trade with the Sixers, but he appears to be set to join a Western Conference contender. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, he’s favoring a move to the Los Angeles Clippers.

“For Harden, that preference, I’m told, remains to return to his hometown of Los Angeles where he could team up with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George with the Clippers.”

The Clippers are in a complex position right now, as they will need to offer a big package to the Sixers in return for Harden. They recently re-signed Russell Westbrook to a minor deal, yet they will pay a lot of money in luxury tax.

Adding Harden to the roster won’t change anything and instead will worsen their situation. The Clippers want to win it all next season, and some think bringing Harden in will be a big move for them

The fit with Westbrook was anything but good in Houston, and trying to repeat that formula on the Clippers will be counterproductive to the team. Russ isn’t keen on this idea either, which could mean some issues for the Clips.

Daryl Morey Still Hopes To Convince Harden To Stay In Philadelphia

Meanwhile, Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey is reportedly set to convince Harden to stay with the team after his shocking trade request.

This has become a common thing for Harden, and it remains to be seen where he’ll go next, or if the Sixers will make it any easy for him to leave. Morey is known for waiting to make moves, and despite the good relationship he might have had with Harden, everything can change now.
