Spurs Could Create A Dominant Big Three With This All-In Trade Idea

The San Antonio Spurs have a very talented team heading into the 2025-26 NBA campaign, but they could put together a trade proposal for an elite superstar to catapult them in the Western Conference.

The San Antonio Spurs are heading into the 2025-26 season with one of the most talented rosters in the NBA, built around generational star Victor Wembanyama and a young, athletic supporting cast that is primed to take the next leap. With cap flexibility, draft assets, and a new identity around Wemby, the Spurs can compete at a high level while also going all-in to add a proven superstar.

After years of patient rebuilding, San Antonio can accelerate its rise into title contention by making a bold, all-in move. The perfect target? Devin Booker.

The Phoenix Suns have already entered a rebuilding phase after parting ways with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal and bringing back Jalen Green, and all signs point toward a full reset in the near future. Trading their franchise shooting guard for a massive return of young talent and draft picks could set the stage for their rebuild, while also giving the Spurs an elite perimeter scorer to pair with Wembanyama.

Amazingly, the trade package the Spurs can put together might make sense for both parties in a proposal, so let’s dive into how it could work.

Proposed Trade Details

San Antonio Spurs Receive: Devin Booker

Phoenix Suns Receive: Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, 2028 first-round pick (via SAS or BOS), 2030 first-round pick (via SAS, DAL, or MIN), 2031 first-round pick (SAS), 2031 second-round pick (SAS)

San Antonio Spurs Create A Dominant Big Three

The Spurs have already built one of the NBA’s most promising young cores, but adding Devin Booker would instantly elevate them from a playoff hopeful to a title-contender. Pairing Booker’s elite scoring and shot creation with Victor Wembanyama’s two-way dominance and the steady floor general play of De’Aaron Fox (23.5 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 6.3 APG) creates a true Big Three that would be the best in the league.

Booker averaged 25.6 PPG and 7.1 APG while carrying Phoenix’s offense, and his ability to hit tough shots, score at all three levels, and close games is exactly what the Spurs need next to their franchise centerpiece. With Wembanyama demanding double-teams inside (24.3 PPG, 11.0 RPG, 3.8 BPG) and Booker stretching defenses on the perimeter while Fox speeds up and down the floor, the Spurs’ offense would become nearly unstoppable.

Booker also brings playoff experience and a clutch pedigree that would help stabilize a young roster as they navigate the high-stakes postseason environment. He’d serve as the ideal running mate for Wembanyama and Fox, allowing the 20-year-old phenom to focus more on his natural game while sharing offensive responsibilities with an established All-Star.

Defensively, the Spurs would still maintain a strong foundation. Wembanyama anchors the paint, and Booker, though not an elite defender, would be surrounded by athletic and versatile teammates who could cover ground. The combination of veteran savvy and youth makes this new Spurs core balanced, dangerous, and sustainable for the future, since Booker is only 28 years old.

Phoenix Suns Start The Rebuild Immediately

For the Suns, moving Devin Booker would be painful, but the logic is clear after already parting ways with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal. Instead of clinging to a fading window, Phoenix could finally reset with a young, talented package that offers both present value and future upside.

Devin Vassell is a rising two-way wing with star potential, averaging 16.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game with strong perimeter defense, while Keldon Johnson (12.7 PPG, 4.8 RPG) brings physicality, scoring, and proper habits after training under Gregg Popovich. On top of those two proven contributors, the Suns would acquire a treasure chest of draft capital in the form of three first-round picks and a second-rounder.

These assets give Phoenix the flexibility to either draft and develop talent or package them in future deals to accelerate the rebuild. Given how depleted their draft cupboard became during the Durant and Beal acquisitions, this trade instantly restores balance to their asset pool.

With this deal, the Suns would also establish a new identity. Vassell could become the centerpiece of the next era in Phoenix alongside Jalen Green, with Johnson slotting in as a versatile scorer who thrives in multiple roles. With those two wings, plus upcoming draft picks, Phoenix would have the foundation to build a competitive roster for years to come.

A Blockbuster Trade That Could Actually Work

Unlike many superstar trade proposals, this one is both realistic and beneficial to both teams. The Spurs have the assets and patience to execute such a deal without destroying their future like the Suns did with the Beal trade. They’d retain key young pieces like Fox and Jeremy Sochan while still landing a proven All-NBA scorer.

For a franchise that values both culture and talent, Booker is the rare star who fits seamlessly into San Antonio’s system. On the other hand, the Suns wouldn’t be left empty-handed like many franchises that lose their cornerstone.

Instead, they’d walk away with two quality starters who can contribute immediately and multiple draft picks to shape their long-term future. No doubt, getting ahead of the curve and trading Booker while his value is sky-high could be the smartest move Phoenix can make.

Ultimately, this is a win-win deal. The Spurs become an instant Western Conference powerhouse built around Wembanyama and Booker, while the Suns start fresh with valuable assets and a clear path forward.
