NBA Rumors: Wizards Could Land Kristaps Porzingis And Create A Big 3

3 Min Read

The NBA trade market is full of rumors right now and some names could be included in blockbuster deals before the trade deadline strikes. Dallas Mavericks’ Kristaps Porzingis has been linked with a series of teams in recent days, including the Golden State Warriors and Charlotte Hornets.

The Latvian big man has struggled to remain healthy during his first two seasons with the team and that has seemingly raised concerns within the organization. Even though Mark Cuban made it clear that the player isn’t available, teams are keeping tabs on Porzingis’ situation in Dallas and one of them could create a big 3 should they unlock negotiations with the Texan team.

According to Chris Crouse of FortyEightMinutes, the Washington Wizards are monitoring Porzingis’ situation with his current team and they’re planning to make a move for him if he’s available in trade talks.

There were reports of the Mavericks making Kristaps Porzingis available earlier in the week and while Mark Cuban shot those down, teams around the league are keeping an eye on the situation.

The Wizards are among the teams monitoring the Porzingis’ status with the Mavericks, a source tells FortyEightMinutes.com. Washington would have interest in the 7’3″ big man as a potential third star alongside Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal.

Yet, there’s a sense around the league that Porzingis is not truly available at this time. Porzingis, who is making $29.5 million this season, has three years left on his deal after the 2020-21 campaign and Dallas is committed to configuring the best team around him and Luka Doncic.

The Mavericks are indeed trying to create the best team around Luka Doncic and Porzingis but it’s also worth noting that Luka is the only untouchable player on the roster right now. It’s unclear if the Mavs will agree to deal Kristaps or if they will change another piece but this man is gaining a lot of attention around the league; they could make a big move with Porzingis but only time will tell if they entertain that idea.
