The Cleveland Cavaliers are on a role unlike anything we’ve seen in a long time. With their win over the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight, the Cavaliers are now 32-4, boasting the best record in the entire league. And based on their performances, Darius Garland believes that he, along with three other Cavaliers stars should be named All-Stars this season.

“I’m trying to be as humble as possible. But… yeah, I should be an All-Star. Yes. There should be four of us on this team that are All-Stars.”

Garland is presumably talking about himself, Donovan Mitchell, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley. And given how the quartet has played together this season, it’s hard to argue against his claim. Is it likely to happen? No, but there is an argument to be made for all four players that Garland hinted at.

Starting with the man himself, Darius Garland has played really well this season, averaging 20.5 points, 6.6 assists, 2.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game, while shooting 49.5% from the field, 43.1% from beyond the arc, and 91.5% from the charity stripe. He has been named an All-Star once before, and this year could mark his second nomination.

Donovan Mitchell has by far been the Cavaliers’ best player. This season, he is putting up MVP numbers, averaging 22.9 points, 4.6 assists, 4.4 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game while shooting 45.0% from the field, 41.0% from range, and 81.3% from the free-throw line. He has been an All-Star five times and could earn his sixth nomination this season.

Jarrett Allen is cementing himself as one of the best centers in the NBA. This season, he is averaging 14.1 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.9 blocks while shooting 70.0% from the field and 72.6% from the free-throw line. Just like Garland, he earned one All-Star nomination in 2022 and is chasing his second All-Star nomination.

Evan Mobley has been a stand-out this year. After a few seasons of developing, Mobley has come into his own. This season, he is averaging 18.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game, while shooting 57.3% from the field, 40.4% from the three-point line, and 77.9% from the free-throw line. This would mark Mobley’s first All-Star nomination should he get the honor.

These four players have been the centerpieces of a phenomenal Cavaliers team this season. Their performances have been nothing short of breathtaking. And even when one of them has an off night, the rest of the team steps up and carries them across the line.

The Cavaliers did not start this season as championship contenders, but they have absolutely cemented themselves in that role now. There is no denying that they along with the Celtics are the teams to beat, and the favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference and go to the NBA Finals.
