Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler was in awe of the ‘superhero’ performance by Stephen Curry to clinch a win in Game 1 against the Houston Rockets. While discussing the keys to the game with TNT’s Allie LaForce after the game, Butler said:
“We’re still young. I mean, Steph is 37, I’m 35, and Dray is like 35, but we’ve got some young guys that also get it done as well. Staying in it. Gave up a little run in the end. But we won.”
When asked about the heroics of Curry and his unreal shooting late in the game, Butler said, “Like I always, Batman comes out of nowhere. You never see him coming. He just falls from the sky, from a building, from behind the door, and does some incredible things.”
“He’s going to be the reason that we do win it all, and we all know that,” he added. “We’ve got to protect him at all costs.”

Stephen Curry displayed all the qualities of a superstar in Game 1 of the Rockets-Warriors series. With Butler playing second fiddle and embracing the role of ‘Robin’, Golden State managed to snuff out the Rockets in a 95-85 win.
Curry looked like the best player on the floor on Sunday night. The Warriors star put up 31 points, six rebounds, and three assists on 5-9 shooting from beyond the arc. With another 30+ point outing, Curry moved up to eighth in all-time 30+ point games in the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Butler also had himself a solid stat line. With 25 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and five steals, Butler had himself a historic playoff debut with the Warriors. With this, he also became the fourth Warrior since 1973-74 to record a performance of 25+ points, 5+ rebounds, 5+ assists, and 5+ steals.
The duo of Curry and Butler has been working wonders for the Warriors as they have improved to a 25-7 record since the forward joined the team.
Although Houston attempted to make a comeback in the fourth quarter, the Warriors managed to snuff it out with some timely three-pointers and a heartbreaking buzzer-beater by Curry. Even with the rebounding battle going largely in Houston’s favor, the Warriors still reaped the benefits of impressive offensive execution.
This win appears to be a statement that will undoubtedly set the tone for the rest of the series. Golden State seems primed to make a run for the title, and the Rockets simply happen to be the first obstacle in the way.
With some momentum behind them, the Warriors will look to capitalize on the situation with another win in Game 2 on Wednesday at 9:30 pm ET.
