Warriors Ultimate Dream Is To Add LeBron James And Kevin Durant Next To Stephen Curry

The Golden State Warriors dream scenario has them trying to contend for a championship with the three iconic faces of the previous generation.

The Golden State Warriors have been asking every team with an NBA All-Star for a trade this winter, as they desperately look to add talent to their roster next to Stephen Curry. However, the Warriors are also being cautious in their approaches, bowing out of trade pursuits for star players like Zach LaVine and Jimmy Butler.

While many fans assumed that the Warriors’ perception of their player is too high for a realistic trade, Jake Fischer has revealed that the Warriors have a bigger plan. The franchise is targeting a big three, with LeBron James and Kevin Durant joining Curry in the Bay.

“Sources say the most ambitious idea being tossed around among Golden State’s decision-makers: Is there any feasible pathway for the Warriors to pull off the dreamiest of outcomes and find a way to bring both James and Durant to The Bay?”

Fischer added that the path to landing Durant is something the Warriors have explored this season, although unsuccessfully.

“The path to Durant alone does seem plausible. Phoenix, entering Monday’s business, continued to signal that it does not plan to move Durant before the deadline, sources said, but the Suns are believed to be listening at the very least to various teams’ pitches for the 35-year-old scoring legend. Durant, meanwhile, is said to be aware of all this.

After the Los Angeles Lakers acquired Luka Doncic, some have questioned if that means the team will be willing to move on from LeBron James as early as this season itself. Even if the Warriors wanted to trade for him, they’d likely fail in that pursuit as James’ has made it clear that he will enforce his no-trade clause this season after watching Anthony Davis get traded away without warning.

“League sources informed me that LeBron James intends to remain a member of the Los Angeles Lakers past the February 6 trade deadline. So even though the Lakers were able to pull off one of the biggest trades in recent history by acquiring Luka Doncic and moving AD to Dallas, LeBron James plans to stay with the Lakers.”

The Warriors are being stonewalled by the Suns when it comes to acquiring Durant while LeBron himself doesn’t seem to be interested in leaving LA right now. There’s a chance the Suns trade Durant at the deadline if they fail to acquire Jimmy Butler and can move off Durant to get back the future assets they lost, but that seems highly unlikely.

A Steph-KD-LeBron trio in the 2025-26 season won’t win a title but will be a must-see basketball. They might legitimately make a playoff push based on the high level at which these players are still playing.

Durant is having the best season out of the three, averaging 26.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists. James is averaging 24.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 9.1 assists, while Curry is averaging 22.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 6.2 assists.

They might be faltering as No. 1 options on their respective teams, but if you put them together, they might be able to achieve something special and have one of the greatest retirement tours in league history.
