Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant seems to be enjoying himself on his “Make Them Watch” tour in China this offseason. However, during a recent event where Morant was set to showcase his athleticism, the guard nearly injured himself.
Thankfully, Ja Morant is okay 😳

On a dunk attempt, Morant appeared to slip and lose his balance during the run-up. Fortunately, the Grizzlies star wasn’t airborne at the time, allowing him to walk away uninjured.
Although the star seemed unaffected and unfazed, even following through to complete the dunk later, the fans on social media were clearly concerned by the close call. Here are some of the most notable reactions from fans on X.
“Is it the shoes?” said one fan, in doubt of the footwear.
“Those rubber a** shoes Nike made for him,” pointed out another fan.
Another hilariously commented, “‘I’m never dunking again’ man, doing dunk contests in the offseason.
One fan showed concern for the volunteer, who appeared to be Tee Morant, and said, “But no one’s asking if that man with the red bonnet is ok?!”
“Man, that could have been a torn ACL,” said one fan, showing concern for the guard.
“Could’ve been two. Bro nearly folded like a deck chair waiting underneath,” added another.
“Usher almost got killed during this mishap,” joked a fan, drawing attention to the eerie resemblance Tee Morant bears to popular music artist Usher.
One fan directly addressed the Grizzlies organization and said, “Sit his ass down in a nice vacation spot and put him in some bubble wrap type of shit. I want to see a full season of a healthy Ja Morant.”
“Clutch save, that could’ve been ugly,” said another.
“Shut him down wtf,” added another concerned fan.
Concerns about Ja Morant’s health aren’t new to fans. While the 25-year-old is one of the game’s most electrifying talents, he’s also notably injury-prone.
In six seasons, Morant has yet to play more than 70 games in a single campaign. For a team that is heavily dependent on its star, this is a travesty.
Last season, a hip injury in November 2024 led the guard to miss eight consecutive games. A string of injuries since led to him missing 32 games in total, significantly impacting the Grizzlies’ standing in the Western Conference.
The Grizzlies managed to fight their way through the Play-In tournament to secure a playoff berth. Though their chances against the Oklahoma City Thunder were already slim, Morant’s injury sealed their fate, resulting in a first-round sweep.
Morant’s availability will be even more crucial next season given the team’s new-look roster. Without Desmond Bane to anchor the offense in his absence, the Grizzlies will need their star to remain healthy if they wish to be competitive.
