Victor Wembanyama has done it again, literally grown into an even bigger problem for the rest of the NBA. The San Antonio Spurs phenom, who was listed at 7-foot-3 when he entered the league, now officially stands 7-foot-5, according to the team’s updated roster.
That means the 2024 Rookie of the Year not only added muscle, skill, and experience this offseason, but also two more inches to an already towering frame. At just 21 years old, Wembanyama is now the tallest player in the NBA, overtaking Memphis Grizzlies big man Zach Edey (7’4″). And yet, his size isn’t the scariest part; it’s how much better he’s become as a player.
This summer, Wembanyama went on one of the most unique offseason journeys in recent memory. He didn’t just train; he studied greatness. The Spurs star spent part of his offseason under the mentorship of Hakeem Olajuwon, working on post footwork, leverage, and balance on Olajuwon’s private ranch outside Houston.

Inside that quiet gym, Olajuwon taught Wembanyama how to use his frame to create space not through brute strength, but through rhythm and timing. The two even worked on a variation of the famous “Dream Shake”, a move that became Olajuwon’s signature weapon during his Hall of Fame career.
Wembanyama didn’t stop there. He also trained with Kevin Garnett, focusing on leadership, competitiveness, and how to carry a young team. And if that wasn’t enough, he spent part of his offseason at a Shaolin temple in China, studying meditation, discipline, and kung fu to strengthen his mental and physical balance.
The Spurs expect a transformed version of Wembanyama heading into his third season, not just taller, but smarter, calmer, and deadlier on the court. Last year, he averaged 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 3.8 blocks per game, showing steady progress as San Antonio’s cornerstone.
His new 7’5″ frame could push that dominance to another level. With his ability to handle the ball like a guard, shoot like a forward, and protect the rim like a classic center, Wembanyama has already redefined what a big man can be in today’s NBA.
Now, after learning from two Hall of Fame legends and growing quite literally into an even greater physical anomaly, the league may have no answer for him.
At 7’5″, Victor Wembanyama might not just be the tallest player in the NBA; he might soon be the most complete one, too.
