The Toronto Raptors are starting a new era after their 2022-23 NBA season came to an end with a loss in the play-in tournament. The Canadian team spent all season long trying to be really competitive, but they were just a mid-squad.

They are already out of the competition after losing to the Chicago Bulls in the play-in tournament, and the front office is looking to make some changes, starting from the head coach position. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that they’re parting ways with Nick Nurse.

This is a big shock for the NBA world, even though the situation in Toronto wasn’t as happy as it was four years ago when they won the NBA championship and were a top team in the league. Ever since that magical run, things have changed for them, and now they’re trying to find their way again.

However, they need to do so without Nurse, who was really great for this team, but his time at Scotiabank Arena has come to an end. Still, the coach won’t miss suitors for his services, and he was already under the radar of many teams. Prior to this, he said he would evaluate his situation with the Raptors, but the team made the decision before him.

Nick Nurse Is A Candidate To Join The Houston Rockets

For instance, he was named a potential candidate to take over the Houston Rockets after they fired Stephen Silas at the end of the 2022-23 NBA regular season. Nurse isn’t alone in this race, as Ime Udoka, Kenny Atkinson, and others could take over the young Rockets team before the start of next season.

In 407 games coached for the Raptors, Nurse posted a 237-170 record. He won the 2019 NBA championship against the Golden State Warriors, giving the Raptors their first-ever title. The next year, he became the Coach of the Year after leading the team to a 53-19 record in the East.

He had a good run with the Raptors, but everything has to come to an end, including his time with the Canadians. Now, Nurse could be headed to the West, but it’s too early to tell.
