Pascal Siakam sounded the warning gong as the Toronto Raptors aim to grab a playoff berth.

Per ESPN, the forward expressed optimism in the team’s chances of making the playoffs while also adding for good measure that other teams wouldn’t fancy their chances of playing against Toronto.

“I always say that once we get into the playoffs, we can kind of make some noise and I don’t think it would be fun for a lot of teams to play us.”

The Raptors, buoyed by their latest 128-108 win against the Charlotte Hornets, are placed ninth in the East with a 39-39 record. Siakam led from the front with 36 points, 7 rebounds, and as many assists. OG Anunoby chipped in with 23 points, while Fred VanVleet dropped 20 points to help the side post a comfortable win.

Siakam’s confidence will be tested when the Raptors face the Boston Celtics twice and the Milwaukee Bucks in their final three games of the regular season.  Their next skirmish is against the Hornets again, and a win would mean going a rung above the Atlanta Hawks and putting some distance behind the tenth-placed Chicago Bulls.

Are Changes Ringing In For The Toronto Raptors On The Coaching Front?

While one side of the discussion is all about the Raptors’ chances of making the playoffs, the other end involves head coach Nick Nurse’s future with the team.

Earlier, Nurse outlined his plans and said he would take some time to evaluate the direction he would want to take. “First of all, I think when this season gets done, we’ll evaluate everything, and even personally, I’m gonna take a few weeks to see where I’m at, you know?” Nurse told, via ESPN

“Like you said, where my head’s at. And just see how the relationship with the organization is and everything. It’s been 10 years for me now, which is a pretty good run. I don’t know, over those 10 years, we got to be up there in several wins with anybody in the league. I don’t know even know where that is, but we’ve had a lot of big seasons.”

There have been reports of the franchise also being interested in former Celtics coach Ime Udoka, and safe to say he would be a worthy replacement if Nurse decides to part ways with Toronto.

For now, Nurse and his Raptors will look to end their campaign on a high. But their journey to the postseason promises to be a challenging one.
