Pascal Siakam joined the list of players who voiced their opinions condemning sports betting.

“They literally wish you death because they missed whatever they were betting on,” the Toronto Raptors star said on The Draymond Green Show.

“That culture is the craziest thing to me because they will literally wish you death because they missed whatever they were betting on,” Siakam said. “I just want to say, I don’t like it, and stop messaging me about you lost your parlay, I don’t care; I could care less. You could miss your parlay today, or tomorrow, I could really care less. It doesn’t matter to me.”

Siakam outlined how fans had zero regards for a player when it comes to betting and their results went wrong. He and his teammate, Fred VanVleet received death threats at one point.

The other raptor who expressed the ill effects of sports betting was Chris Boucher who was once slammed by a fan for “being the wrong slave”. The despicable manner in which he was treated left the center in shock.

“And now, guess what, the players now they don’t really mess with the fans as much,” he said on his Hustle Play Podcast. “We’re lucky we’re in Toronto, and we got the best fans. But I’m saying, imagine if you get messages like this. Now, you don’t really want to— you don’t know why that person is talking to you. I need you to score 10 today.”

Kyrie Irving Bashes Betting, Says It Ruined The Purity And Fun Of The Game

Kyrie Irving is one of those players who doesn’t pull his punches when it comes to the sport. and he had his two cents on gambling and betting.

The Dallas Mavericks guard said the two activities have ruined the game. “Gambling and sports betting have completely taken the purity and the fun away from the game at times. I’m gonna just be honest with y’all… ” Irving said.

“There’s a difference between being a diehard fan & supporting your team & loving your team vs. somebody that’s betting on a parlay or somebody that wants to hit… God dang, like this whole community of gamblers that are coming to the game of basketball.”

For now, the league appears to not have taken any action against betting and how it’s taking a toll on the players. Only time will tell if there is a way the league could minimize the ill-treatment that’s meted out to these players by fans who base them on the bets, rather than how they play the game.
