Richard Jefferson is, without a doubt, one of the funniest NBA personalities on television today. The former NBA champion has thrived during his career as an analyst. Most of his success can be attributed to his wealth of knowledge and experience in and about the NBA. But his humor and charisma have also played a big role in his success, as he lets that shine through whenever he speaks.

And yesterday, Richard Jefferson showed why he is considered one of the wittiest NBA personalities. During yesterday’s NBA On ESPN, Malika Andrews was asking Kendrick Perkins about the Brooklyn Nets. She mentioned Eastern Conference team officials she’s spoken to don’t fear the Nets but don’t want to play them. Jefferson hilariously pointed out the oxymoronic nature of that statement (3:15 onwards).

Malika Andrews: “Talking to folks around the Eastern Conference, there’s this weird… Teams don’t fear Brooklyn but they don’t want to face Brooklyn.”

Richard Jefferson: “That’s called fear! That’s called fear!”

Jefferson was not only funny at that moment, but he was also right. Teams can’t say that they don’t fear the Brooklyn Nets but then also say that they don’t want to face them. Despite what recent form suggests, the Nets are one of the most dangerous teams in the NBA, thanks to them having Kevin Durant, whom many consider the best player in the world.

Jefferson has built a reputation as a troll over the years. Most recently, he mocked Los Angeles Lakers fans for being quiet during their blowout loss to the Pelicans, joking that it was so quiet that fans could hear a mosquito fart. Jefferson’s popularity has grown significantly over the last few years because of the humorous moments he provides for fans, and even his fellow analysts, making them laugh from time to time.
