Russell Westbrook’s time with the Los Angeles Lakers was by no means ideal. Since getting traded to the team, Westbrook became a victim of constant hate from the iconic NBA franchise’s fanbase. He was even burdened with a lot of blame for the Lakers’ struggles this season, even after having decent games off the bench.

All things considered, it was no surprise when Westbrook was traded to the Utah Jazz around the NBA trade deadline. That blockbuster trade finally put an end to Russell Westbrook‘s time with the Lakers.

Russ may not have received the greatest treatment from Laker Nation, but it didn’t mean he hesitated before giving back to the community. In fact, it was recently revealed that Westbrook donated 400 pairs of shoes at South LA Charter Academy before getting traded.

Via FOX 11 Los Angeles:

“Creating and supporting educational opportunities for underserved youth has always been a passion of mine. It’s so important that every child has access to a good education regardless of their socioeconomic background. My goal in partnering with the LA Promise Fund is to ensure our South LA students are ready for college and ultimately success in a 21st-century career.”

This was certainly a kind gesture from the 2016-17 NBA MVP. Regardless of how underwhelming Westbrook played on the court while donning a Lakers jersey, he always found a way to win the hearts of the fans off the court.

What’s Next For Russell Westbrook?

Russell Westbrook may have just been traded to the Utah Jazz, there are already rumors of a potential buyout that’ll allow the former NBA MVP to join a championship contender.

According to us, there are five destinations that can help Brodie in making the most of the rest of the 2022-23 NBA season. Keeping that in mind, there is a very good chance that Jazz fans may never see Russ put on the jersey of their franchise.
