Russell Westbrook’s future with the LA Clippers seems likely as more updates continue to steadily pour in.

Per GQ’s Howard Beck who gave a comprehensive look at the busy NBA summer offseason: “Russell Westbrook seems likely to stay with the Clippers.”

This comes on the back of the team keen on re-signing the mercurial point guard who was one of their standout performers in the playoffs despite their first-round exit at the hands of the Phoenix Suns.

Earlier, the team’s President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank expressed interest in having the 34-year-old back in the Clippers’ fold.  “Very much so,” Frank said when asked about the Clippers hoping to re-sign Westbrook.

“Now, Russ is a free agent and he gets to choose. He did a phenomenal job during his time with the Clippers. He’s obviously had a Hall of Fame career, one of the top-75 of all time. We want Russ back but also respect the fact that he’s a free agent and has a right to choose, but hopefully, we can keep him a Clipper.”

Westbrook was a force for the Clippers, averaging 15.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 7.6 assists in 21 games, and then did even better in the playoffs, racking up 23.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 7.4 assists against the Suns.

Clearly, he looks at home with the Clippers and has proved that he has enough gas left in the tank to make an impact in each game. In all probability, Westbrook to the Clippers appears to be a done deal.

The New Rookies Of The 2023-24 Season Love Russell Westbrook

Ahead of the 2023 NBA Draft, some of the prospects were asked about their favorite player in the league, and the common answer was Russell Westbrook.

Per Oklahoma City Thunder media member Rylan Stiles, the former MVP was the favorite player of Scoot Henderson and Cam Whitmore

“Cam Whitmore and Scoot Henderson list Thunder legend Russell Westbrook as their favorite player. From the NBA Draft Media Guide,” Stiles tweeted. Earlier, No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama named Westbrook as his favorite player as well.

“I remember at some point I was a big fan of [Russell] Westbrook, OKC,” Wembanyama said. “But I had plenty, didn’t have like one big idol.”

It might be twilight years for Westbrook, but he is still one of the more astute playmakers in the league and hopefully, he has another good stint with the Clippers if he indeed ends up re-signing with them.

On that note, we leave you with a clip of Westbrook’s MVP season.
