LeBron James has been around for so long at this point, that those entering the NBA now have basically seen him play for their whole life. Alex Fudge, Colin Castleton, and D’Moi Hodge joined the South Bay Lakers on two-way contracts this offseason, and they were just stunned when they got to meet the great man for the first time.

“I met LeBron today,” Fudge said. “It was crazy, I’m not going to lie. I froze up, I just froze up. I shook his hand and he was like, “Bron.” and I am just like (confused expression) ‘I know you, Bron.’ I should be the one telling you (I’m) Alex. It was just so crazy. Happened so fast. I just froze. One of the greatest guys I’ve looked up to.”

“I met LeBron for the first time today,” Castleton said. “It was pretty cool. Kinda just walked in, didn’t know he was going to be here. He was working out and said ‘What’s up?'”

“I did meet him today,” Hodge said. “I met LeBron today. He came to me like, ‘I’m Bron.’ I’m like I know you.”

Fudge is 20 years old, Castleton is 23, and Hodge is 24. The three really wouldn’t know of an NBA without LeBron in it, and it’s not surprising that this was a very special moment for them.

Hopefully, one or more of them can play well enough in the G League to get an opportunity to play alongside LeBron on the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron James Sent A Message To Fans

Castleton didn’t know that LeBron was going to be working out at the facility, but he probably should have thought there might be a chance, as James has been hard at work this offseason.

LeBron sent a message to fans ahead of Year 21 which stated one only feels tired if they think that is the case. James added that he doesn’t get tired, and he is going to keep soldiering on.

LeBron averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game in the 2022-23 season, and is fixated on having another strong campaign in 2023-24.

Fudge, Castleton, And Hodge Are Hoping To Make An Impact In The G League

The South Bay Lakers finished with a 21-11 record last season and made the G League playoffs as the third seed. They lost in the quarterfinals, though, and would be hoping these three youngsters can help them get over the line.

Hodge and Castleton, in particular, could certainly have an instant impact.

Hodge averaged 15.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game in the Summer League for the Lakers

Castleton, meanwhile, put up 13.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely.
