Kyrie Irving is one of the most flashy players in the NBA. Kyrie Irving is extremely entertaining to watch for a regular fan. He is a complete point guard, with the undisputed best ball handling in the NBA. Kyrie Irving’s ability to score the basketball is unique, and he is genuinely thriving as a predominantly scoring point guard. Kyrie Irving brings fans into the seats with his wizardry on the ball: that can be said with the utmost certainty.

This season, Kyrie Irving has been one of the best players in the league statistically. Kyrie Irving is currently averaging 27.7 PPG, 4.9 RPG, and 5.9 APG. In some years, he would be in the MVP conversation. Perhaps the movement for Kyrie Irving to be an MVP is already beginning. Recently, Stephen A. Smith has stated that Kyrie Irving should be in the MVP conversation and that he’d take him over another MVP candidate in Nikola Jokic.

Kyrie Irving is certainly worthy of being considered as an MVP caliber player, but he is also playing with other superstars on the roster. Oftentimes, superstars on the same team can split the vote between themselves, lowering the chances of any of them getting it. Kyrie Irving is a leader on the Brooklyn Nets, but he is not the clear-cut best player on his own team, like Nikola Jokic, who Stephen A. Smith mentioned as being lower on the totem pole for MVP. Kyrie Irving is a talented player who is putting up big numbers: but it is hard to be in the MVP conversation when you are on a superteam.
