During a recent episode of “First Take,” Stephen A. Smith made some comments directed at his co-host Molly Qerim that many found disrespectful and humiliating.

Stephen A. Smith: “It’s almost the equivalent of asking you not to eat during commercial breaks. You can ask Molly to do a lot of different things. Asking her to fast and not eat? That’s going to be a problem for her.”

Molly Qerim: “Grown woman. Proud of it. Not a little girl.”

The exchange began when the crew was discussing Luka Doncic’s struggles in the NBA Finals. Smith veered off-topic and made an analogy involving Qerim’s eating habits during commercial breaks. Qerim, visibly taken aback, responded assertively and shut down Smith.

The uncomfortable exchange didn’t go unnoticed by viewers, many of whom took to social media to criticize Smith for his remarks. The incident added to the growing concern over Smith’s tendency to make off-the-cuff comments that can come across as belittling or dismissive towards his colleagues.

This wasn’t the only incident on the show where tension between Smith and Qerim was evident. In another segment discussing the development of Celtics stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, Qerim emphasized the importance of patience in building successful teams.

Molly Qerim: “It’s not a microwave society, folks. Put that stuff in the oven. Seven years. It’s just for the kids out there. Take some time.”

Stephen A. Smith: “Why are you two looking at me?”

Molly Qerim “This isn’t about you, we’re telling folks out there.”

Stephen A. Smith: “When it comes to First Take, everything’s about me.”

These interactions highlight a recurring dynamic on the show where Smith often positions himself at the center of discussions, sometimes at the expense of his co-hosts.

While “First Take” thrives on its lively debates and bold personalities, these moments of tension reveal the challenges of maintaining a respectful and balanced dialogue.

Molly Qerim Had To Remind Stephen A. Smith That Summer Break Hasn’t Started Yet

An “exhausted” Stephen A. Smith was visibly dismayed when reminded by his co-host Molly Qerim that the NBA Draft is just around the corner. With the NBA season wrapped up and the NFL preseason still a few months away, Smith was eagerly looking forward to some well-deserved downtime.

Stephen A. Smith: “Summer break’s almost here. We just gotta let Bronny get drafted and you can go about your merry way. Let’s keep it real.”

Molly Qerim: “Damn, I forgot.”

During a recent episode of “First Take,” as they discussed the upcoming events in the sports calendar, Qerim made a lighthearted remark to remind Smith of their upcoming obligations. Qerim referred to the highly anticipated NBA Draft and the potential selection of Bronny James.

Smith’s reaction was immediate and emphatic. “Damn, I forgot,” he exclaimed, his tone a mix of frustration and resignation. The exchange highlighted the grueling schedule that sports analysts endure, especially during the busy overlap of different sports seasons.

Despite his apparent exhaustion, Smith’s dedication to his work and his role on “First Take” remains unwavering. The brief moment of levity served as a reminder of the relentless pace of the sports world and the commitment required to stay on top of it all.
