Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Stephen Curry had a wholesome message for Damian Lillard after the latter won the three-point contest.

Over the years, Lillard has been more than just a clutch phenomenon. He has been a prolific three-point shooter and has shown the world that he can drain three effortlessly from downtown.

The guard put up a scintillating display in his third career appearance in the glitzy weekend affair and pipped Buddy Hield and Tyrese Haliburton in the final round, and that drew lavish praise from Curry. Taking to Twitter, the Warriors also had a quirky caption:

yessir get you one @Dame_Lillard congrats!!! Hahaha he said he retiring from it with the trophy in the hand I feel you

Curry has participated in the three-point competition seven times and has won the marquee contest twice in 2015 and 2021.

Damian Lillard Calls Himself The Best Three-Point Shooter After Stephen Curry

Not the one to mince words, Lillard was as candid as he could get when he was asked where he would rank himself in the list of best downtown shooters in the league.

And he picked himself to be second right behind Curry. Like the latter, he was also generous in his praise as he reminded the world of Curry’s greatness.

“After Steph…we all know who and what Steph is as a shooter, definitely. But after that, I’m right in the mix with whoever else comes after that.”

On the season front, Lillard has been the cornerstone for the Trail Blazers. His 37.2 percent from distance this regular season has been instrumental for the side as they stake a claim for the playoffs.

At the time of writing, the Blazers are placed 12th in the West with a 28-30 record. They have 24 games left to notch up a series of wins and make the postseason, and much of it depends on how Lillard fares for the team.

While he does have the potential to become one of the greatest downtown shooters, his focus will be on helping Portland make a deep run this season and perhaps even take a shot at the title.
